wedding photography essexIf you search Google for wedding photography, Essex has hundreds of them. So what can you do to ensure that the one you choose will make everything perfect on your special day?

Paul Fowler has been taking stunning wedding photos for nearly twenty years – for the last decade as the owner of Pauls Studio in the Victoria Shopping Centre in Southend, Essex.

It is this experience which helps Paul to guide the bridal couple to the best shots – whether your wedding photography will be in Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, London… or anywhere in the world.

Experienced Wedding Photography at Essex Venues

In the last two decades, Paul and his team have taken photographs at wedding venues all over Essex, including such prestigious settings as Stock Brook Manor in Billericay, The Lawn in Rochford, Le Talbooth in Dedham, Leez Priory near Chelmsford, Braxted Park in Witham and the Roslin Beach Hotel in Southend-on-Sea.

Pauls Studio’s photographers take the time to get to know their couples with an engagement shoot, which is included in the price of the wedding package. This means that, on the big day itself, the couple have come to trust both the camera and the person behind the lens.

Their skill is in taking relaxed, artistic, reportage style photography – hiding the fact that it is actually very carefully choreographed. His goal is to ensure that he captures all the right group shots, along with every intimate detail as a lasting memory.

Indian Wedding Photography

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

indian wedding photography - stepping around the fireIn addition to Passport photos for Indian visas, Pauls Studio also provide the photography for Indian weddings.

Indian Wedding Photography

The photographer at a Hindu or Indian wedding celebration will be faced with a riot of colour and using a flash can cause these to become bleached out in the final images, as well as being very off-putting for those involved in the ceremony. The best way is to use a prime or fixed lens because these allow more light to be available – avoiding the need for flash.

Indian weddings are comprised of a large number of sections, each vitally significant to the future happiness and prosperity of the couple.

Their photographer needs to be aware of the different Hindu wedding traditions and rituals and when they will occur in the timeline, as well as what is involved in order to get the best lighting and positioning to capture his images.

Here are some of the main components:

The Bride – Indian and Hindu Wedding Dresses

The Hindu bride will wear several different outfits, including a white sari with red and gold embroidery – traditionally given to her by her mother’s brothers. The white sari represents purity.

During the ceremony, she will put on a red sari, representing fertility – a gift from the groom’s family.

Sometimes, she will also have worn a white wedding dress in the British style for a registry office service prior to her Hindu wedding.

All of these will need to be photographed so they can be represented in the eventual wedding album.

The Groom

The groom will wear a lounge suit or a white or ivory traditional Nehru jacket and trousers.

Hindu Weddings

Marriage is viewed as a sacrament in the Hindu religion – sanskars – and this one marks the setting up of a new family unit – a very important stage in life.

Parkland Quendon Hall Wedding photography.

In May last year I had the pleasure of photographing Sara & Karl’s wedding at Parklands, Quendon Hall. Here is an insight into their wedding.

pAUL_205_1

Why did you choose Parklands Quendon Hall?

We wanted a Spring Wedding and the 3rd May was a special date as it was when my (Sara) grandparents were married 60 years previously. Parklands Quendon Hall for me had the ‘wow’ factor.

Did you have a colour scheme?

Yes our colour scheme was gold & ivory.

What were your dress and suit like?

My dress was made by Mark Lesley. It was ivory satin, fitted with a mermaid bottom. Karl wore traditional tails with an ivory waistcoat and cravat.

Who were your bridesmaids/flowers girls/ page boys? What were their outfits like?

I had 3 bridesmaids, Sue (Friend), Emma (Friend) and Nina (Karl’s sister). They all wore full length gold gowns with ivory sashes. Karl’s best man and 2 ushers wore the same as Karl but with gold waistcoats and cravats.

pAUL_135_1

What personal extras did you have?

We had ‘Bagatelle’ professional flute and harp duo play during our ceremony and reception drinks.

What flowers did you have?

For my bouquet I had a hand tie of all small white calla lilies with the stems kept long, bound with ribbon and pinned. The Flower Bar based in Hertford provided all the flowers.

What was your cake like?

Our cake was made by a family friend and was a 3 tier ivory fruit cake decorated with calla lilies.

What table decorations did you have?

We had round low bowls with calla lilies in as table centre pieces with tea lights around them. We had chocolates wrapped in gold and ivory paper as favours. We named all our tables after different champagnes.

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We went to Kuala Lumpur, Borneo and Langkawi. Borneo in particular was amazing.

Why did you choose Pauls Studio for your photography?

We chose Pauls Studio after recommendation from different people. Paul was excellent, extremely professional throughout the whole day and our Wedding Album is fantastic. We have had loads of good comments about it.

Civil Partnership Wedding in Essex

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

We asked Lorna and Nicola to tell us about their very special day.

Wedding Date, time and Venue ?

The Lawn, Rochford, Essex. 2.30 pm on 17th April 2012.

civil partnership wedding in essex

Why did you choose this venue for your wedding ?

We chose The Lawn in Rochford, Essex as our wedding venue because not only was it a beautiful setting, but it was just us and our guests there. We were really keen on it being private and didn’t want another party happening at the same time. The price was competitive for such a stunning setting and the venue felt homely, we felt relaxed straight away. They really took the importance of our special day to heart and demonstrated that it would be as we wanted it.

the lawn wedding venue essex

Your Colour scheme or theme ?

Our colour scheme was Navy and turquoise.

Describe your Outfits and Dresses ?

As two brides we didn’t want to have white dresses, we opted to have coloured dresses that fitted our theme. Lorna was in Navy and Nicola was in turquoise, with shoes to match. Also untraditionally we helped each other chose our dresses, and apart from our hair and make up artist no one else saw our dresses until the big day. Lorna added a white Bolero to her dress to finish the bridal look. Nicola had a small hair piece to while Lorna sported a more traditional tiara.

Bridesmaids/Flower girls/page boys ?

We decided not to have Bridesmaids, but our Best friends acted as our witnesses on the day – Naomi and Kayleigh.

Flowers ?

We opted for matching bouquets and ceremony table decorations. These were made of white roses and lilies to stand out against our coloured dresses.

Cake ?

Our cake was a tower of 100 cupcakes in Lemon, vanilla and chocolate, in silver cases. Each had a different decoration so flavours could be identified by the menu provided. Blue flowers was lemon, silver heart was chocolate, glitter icing was vanilla. We had a 6″ cutting cake decorated with navy ribbon and a heart firework effect on the top.

The wonderful cakes were made by Nicola, here is the link to her facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dream-Cakes-By-Nicola/137488166335108

Table Decorations and special details ?

Table centres were made by ourselves (and a crew of willing helpers). They were fish bowls design with a turquoise artificial flower, silver stones and silver decoration around the edge of the fish bowl. This was placed on a mirror and surrounded by turquoise tea-lights.

Favours were blue and white striped lollies which fitted in with our sweetie theme. Each table was named after a sweet, eg. The Top table was Rings, other tables were Tanfastics, Malteasers, Liquorice Allsorts, Rhubarb and custard, Jelly babies, Strawbs and Jazzles.

Your Honeymoon details ?

2 weeks in Mexico, at an all inclusive resort north of Cancun. The highlight was that we Swam with dolphins which was a wedding present from Lorna’s parents.

Special Details ?

Our Hair and make-up was done by Becky Sutton and was simply perfect

A link to her blog is here: http://www.beckysuttonmua.blogspot.com

We both wrote personal vows to each other, which meant that we again put the personal touch on our day. Very emotional but completely ours.

The invitations were designed and made by Lorna and Nicola as we wanted them to be completely unique to us, and like most things for the wedding we wanted to add a personal touch to our special day. The design followed through to the table plan, name places and table names.

To compliment our sweet theme we had a sweet buffet with the sweets we had named our tables after.

Why did you choose Paul’s Studio for your wedding images ?

We wanted a photographer who could not only demonstrate a good portfolio of photography, had a good knowledge of our venue (just in case it rained) and wasn’t phased by the prospect of a same sex wedding – with two brides to make look stunning !!!!

We had liked what we saw on Paul’s website and after meeting him we knew we would have some lovely photos to remember our special day by.

Our confidence in our selection of photographer was confirmed by the amazing service the team provided during our engagement shoot with Andrea.

Paul and Gemma did a great job on the day. To be honest most of the time we didn’t even notice they were there. The shots they took (despite windy weather conditions) did not disappoint. There were so many good ones to chose from for our album, it took us 4 hours to decide!

Cassie & Adam – Stock Brook Manor

Monday, April 16th, 2012

We recently photographed Cassie and Adam’s lovely wedding at  Stock Brook Country Club which is a well known premiere wedding venue in Essex. It is a wonderful setting for a relaxed wedding and one that offers great photo opportunities for your special day.  We asked Cassie , why she had chosen Pauls Studio, she told us that we offered varied packages at a good price and that also we came highly recommended by the Wedding Co-ordinators at Stock Brook, a great accolade indeed !

Cassie and Adam chose to have a simple and classically elegant style for their wedding with lovely cream roses and a purple and aubergine colour accent for accessories and Bridesmaid dresses. Cassie’s dress and bouquet added a hint of glamour with sequins and crystals for added sparkle and her unusual lace and ribbon shoes a touch of vintage. As you can see below she looked stunning and we were able to take some wonderful images.

For the Wedding car, the couple were lucky to have use of Cassie’s fathers pride and joy, his much loved Triumph TR4, what a fab entrance to make !

There were wonderful opportunities for us to take some great pictures at Stock Brook as it’s such a beautiful setting and has some great places for all the family pictures as well as the more intimate Bride and Groom ones. The 10 bridesmaids looked stunning in dresses that followed the couples aubergine and purple theme.

Cassie chose flowers for the table decorations and favours that matched the colour scheme and the wonderful cake mirrored the cream roses in her bouquet.

Cassie and Adam danced their 1st dance to a favourite R Kelly track, and then the resident DJ kept the entertainment going until late in the evening, the fun casino added another dimension and everyone had a wonderful memorable time ! We would like to wish Cassie and Adam all the best from us all at Pauls Studio for a wonderful married future together. We loved photographing your special day and hope you were as thrilled with the photographs as we are.

Paul beats a hat trick at PTO in Tunisia !

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Just back from a wonderful weeks training in Tunisia with PTO (Photography Traing Overseas) and am pleased to announce I had 4 of my images in the final selection of the print competition. What an honour !

I am a great believer in the continuation of training both for myself and all members of the team at the studio, not only does it keep you fresh but is a great opportunity to brush up on old techniques and learn new ones. On my return from PTO we had the wonderful portrait photographer Saraya Cortaville visit the studio and teach us all some wonderful new techniques with lighting and posing,  the images below are a few from that training session. We have some wonderful promotions and special offers coming up in the next few weeks so please watch this space for news of those.

Wedding photography in Southend

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Elle and Jamie’s wedding. The service was at Porters in Southend, Followed by a reception at Camila Hotel.   As soon as  Elle had told me about the wedding reception being at the Camellia Hotel which is located on southend’s seafront  I was excited about thepossibility of doing some more beach shots. On Saturday the snow had cleared and the sun was shinning, although still bitterly cold the  happy couple were very happy to venture onto Southend’s seafront. I used my video light to create the warm toned shots taken at Dusk.
