Civil Partnership Wedding in Essex

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

We asked Lorna and Nicola to tell us about their very special day.

Wedding Date, time and Venue ?

The Lawn, Rochford, Essex. 2.30 pm on 17th April 2012.

Why did you choose this venue for your wedding ?

We chose The Lawn in Rochford, Essex as our wedding venue because not only was it a beautiful setting, but it was just us and our guests there. We were really keen on it being private and didn’t want another party happening at the same time. The price was competitive for such a stunning setting and the venue felt homely, we felt relaxed straight away. They really took the importance of our special day to heart and demonstrated that it would be as we wanted it.

Your Colour scheme or theme ?

Our colour scheme was Navy and turquoise.

Describe your Outfits and Dresses ?

As two brides we didn’t want to have white dresses, we opted to have coloured dresses that fitted our theme. Lorna was in Navy and Nicola was in turquoise, with shoes to match. Also untraditionally we helped each other chose our dresses, and apart from our hair and make up artist no one else saw our dresses until the big day. Lorna added a white Bolero to her dress to finish the bridal look. Nicola had a small hair piece to while Lorna sported a more traditional tiara.

Bridesmaids/Flower girls/page boys ?

We decided not to have Bridesmaids, but our Best friends acted as our witnesses on the day – Naomi and Kayleigh.

Flowers ?

We opted for matching bouquets and ceremony table decorations. These were made of white roses and lilies to stand out against our coloured dresses.

Cake ?

Our cake was a tower of 100 cupcakes in Lemon, vanilla and chocolate, in silver cases. Each had a different decoration so flavours could be identified by the menu provided. Blue flowers was lemon, silver heart was chocolate, glitter icing was vanilla. We had a 6″ cutting cake decorated with navy ribbon and a heart firework effect on the top.

The wonderful cakes were made by Nicola, here is the link to her facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dream-Cakes-By-Nicola/137488166335108

Table Decorations and special details ?

Table centres were made by ourselves (and a crew of willing helpers). They were fish bowls design with a turquoise artificial flower, silver stones and silver decoration around the edge of the fish bowl. This was placed on a mirror and surrounded by turquoise tea-lights.

Favours were blue and white striped lollies which fitted in with our sweetie theme. Each table was named after a sweet, eg. The Top table was Rings, other tables were Tanfastics, Malteasers, Liquorice Allsorts, Rhubarb and custard, Jelly babies, Strawbs and Jazzles.

Your Honeymoon details ?

2 weeks in Mexico, at an all inclusive resort north of Cancun. The highlight was that we Swam with dolphins which was a wedding present from Lorna’s parents.

Special Details ?

Our Hair and make-up was done by Becky Sutton and was simply perfect

A link to her blog is here: http://www.beckysuttonmua.blogspot.com

We both wrote personal vows to each other, which meant that we again put the personal touch on our day. Very emotional but completely ours.

The invitations were designed and made by Lorna and Nicola as we wanted them to be completely unique to us, and like most things for the wedding we wanted to add a personal touch to our special day. The design followed through to the table plan, name places and table names.

To compliment our sweet theme we had a sweet buffet with the sweets we had named our tables after.

Why did you choose Paul’s Studio for your wedding images ?

We wanted a photographer who could not only demonstrate a good portfolio of photography, had a good knowledge of our venue (just in case it rained) and wasn’t phased by the prospect of a same sex wedding – with two brides to make look stunning !!!!

We had liked what we saw on Paul’s website and after meeting him we knew we would have some lovely photos to remember our special day by.

Our confidence in our selection of photographer was confirmed by the amazing service the team provided during our engagement shoot with Andrea.

Paul and Gemma did a great job on the day. To be honest most of the time we didn’t even notice they were there. The shots they took (despite windy weather conditions) did not disappoint. There were so many good ones to chose from for our album, it took us 4 hours to decide!

Exciting times at Victoria Shopping Centre Southend-on-Sea

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

The Victoria shopping centre has recently undergone a major 24 million pound refurbishment, and now bears little resemblance to the old 1960s built mall, known locally as Victoria Plaza.

The retail line up at the Victoria is impressive, with new flagship stores for Next, Boots and New look, and of course our own shop, Pauls Studio.

We were recently commissioned to do some photography of the new shopping centre for their  brochure.

Essex wedding photographers enter national Master Photographer Awards 2010

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

I have chosen the 4 images which I am entering into My first  National competition.   The Master Photography Awards are the most prestigious awards for photography in the UK. The studio recently  received 3 awards of excellence on a regional level ( London & Essex) But this will be our first national competition.

The fist image was taken at Newland Hall in Chelmsford, and is one of my favourites from 2009, this image has already won a award of excellence (London Essex)

The second Image was taken on a truly spectacular wedding in Italy last year, I love the  half silhouette, and the vivid red of the curtains,  be interesting to see what the judges think!!!

My 3rd Image I’m entering was taken at Parklands Near Stanstead.  I like it because it looks very natural although It was very much set up, I also used a slow shutter speed to blur the dress,to show the movement, this is something i have being doing a lot recently.

Finally My fourth image was inspired by one of my favourite wedding photographers Kevin Wilson. It was taken this year at the Fenns in Braintree.
